With a pristine view of Hermosa Beach, this relaxed eatery boasts casual California elegance that’s delivered with both style and panache. With a sunny patio and a spacious dining room and bar, there are plenty of seating options. Walk through the high, vaulted entrance and take your pick of tables. The high interior walls are exposed brick and decorated with large and colorful paintings. Green granite topped bar tables and low-slung bistro seating along the walls make for a variety of comfortable options.
Since its grand opening in 2003, Mediterraneo has become a favorite spot for both tourists and locals, thanks to Chef Amber Caudle’s original and fresh approach to tapas-style Spanish, French, Italian and Greek cuisine. The tapas menu runs from $3 to $15, with selections such as green avocado salad, chilled mussels, grilled black tiger shrimp with paprika oil and lamb brochettes grilled with fresh house made tzatziki sauce. If you’re in the mood for something bigger than a tapas plate, you can’t go wrong with the dinner menu either, which flaunts a variety of specialty pasta dishes, including the penne all’antonio (shrimp and scallops sautéed in pink cream sauce) and the salmon aqua pazza (fresh salmon sautéed with capers, baby tomatoes and gaeta olives).
Tips: Monday through Friday from 5-7, enjoy half price beer and wine and two for one tapas. And don’t forget to take advantage of ‘Tapas Tuesday’ when all tapas menu items are two for one all day.
