On Sunday, October 24th, a solo exhibition by CATHERINE ROBERTS LEACH will open at HAUS with a preview reception for the artist from 4 to 7 p.m. In this exhibition, Leach presents unmanipulated color photographs of the vacant storefronts witnessed in her Southern California neighborhood. The dark, littered interiors - made visible only by the shadow of the artist - contrast dramatically with the colorful reflections of the urban life that persists around them. Like depression-era photography, Leach's images are testaments to today's economy. Topical and poetic, the photographs present the tension between failure and its context of endurance. Catherine Roberts Leach was born in New York and lives and now lives and works in Los Angeles. She received a B.A. degree in English literature from University of Hartford in Connecticut and was formerly a writer and publisher ("Country Connections," an award-winning, nationally distributed journal) and has been included in various group exhibitions in the U.S. This will be Leach’s second solo exhibition.
