Thank Nancy Silverton for giving us some major cred with the intractable New York crowd. She not only managed to woo the robust Mario Batali—who famously said he would never open a place in L.A—but she also makes a mean pizza margherita, not to mention delicious ricotta-stuffed squash blossoms, chicken liver bruschetta and butterscotch budino. Pizzeria Mozza started as a mere adjunct to the main restaurant, Osteria Mozza, but even before the Osteria opened, the pizzeria seized a place on the A-List. Now, if we can only get in to the sardine-cramped space...
