Description

With locations in New York, Beverly Hills and Los Angeles, the gallery, founded in 1961 by current director Douglas Chrismas, is known for mounting expansive, museum-quality exhibitions of artists' work spanning the last forty years, in addition to emerging and mid-career artists.

Ace Gallery has shown all the big guns: Carl Andre, Dennis Hopper, Donald Judd, Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly and Andy Warhol, to name just a few.

Visiting

The gallery is located on the 2nd floor of the Wilshire Tower at 5514 Wilshire Blvd., at the corner of Dunsmuir Ave. Free parking is available to visitors in the lot behind the building.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. Admission is always free.

The Los Angeles location is four blocks from LACMA, and 8 to 10 minutes travel time from the Beverly Hills location.

Dining and entertainment

Dining options around the gallery are somewhat limited. Marie Callender's offers family-style dining, serving a full range of entrees and desserts.

For a quick, healthy lunch, visit Organic To Go, a reliable chain eatery that offers a wide range of all-natural sandwiches, entrees and snacks.

Back Door Boba is a modest lunch eatery offering Asian fusion cuisine, noodles, shakes and desserts.
