Description
Like a smaller, more gregarious and usually more inebriated version of the institutional Ye Olde King’s Head down the street, Britannia Pub serves British food and booze to Anglophiles and ex-pats alike. Despite a nod or two to Harp Lager, Guinness beer and the Fab Four, Britannia’s décor leans more towards the generic American sports bar, complete with NFL pennants above the bar and Miller Lite lights above the upstairs pool table, but—despite a southwestern diversion here and an east coast distraction there, the menu shows Britannia’s true “colours”: Fish and chips are $10.25 to $14.75, shepherd’s pie is $10.50 and bangers and mash is $9.75. If you’re preferred refreshment is liquid, the happy hour—Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.—features glasses of Woodbridge wine and domestic beers for $2.75. Enjoy a tipple or two on Britannia’s heated patio, or brave the un-happy hours after 9:30 p.m. when karaoke reigns Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and a Beatles sound-alike band performs on Sunday.Did you know?
