Description

Author and entertainer Sandra Tsing Loh and Assemblywoman Julia Brownley (D-Santa Monica) are scheduled to lead a community forum in Santa Monica on Saturday about public school funding in California.

Brownley, who chairs the Assembly’s Education Committee, will talk about efforts to reform the way the state  funds public schools.  Legislators are considering cutting around $8.1 billion from public schools, including colleges and universities, to help close a $24 billion budget gap.

Loh will screen her documentary “Burning Mom,” which chronicles her efforts to mobilize parents and children who traveled to Sacramento last year to rally in support of public schools.

The forum will take place at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria at Edison Language Academy, 2423 Kansas Avenue.
