Description

With a red brick exterior, wood-paneled walls and a full complement of beer mirrors lining the wall, the Robin Hood meets just about every expectation a Southern Californian looking to scratch an Anglophilia itch could ask for. Fish and Chips, Steak & Kidney Pie, Bangers & Mash and the usual cholesterol-bearing Brit fare are all for the taking, in addition to fried mushrooms and buffalo wings for those with more contemporary tastes. But for most it's all about grabbing a pint, with Fullers, Boddingtons, Newcastle and more offering a hearty taste of Old Blighty in the valley.

"The customer's always wrong at Robin Hood!"

After an hour of being ignored by our waitress, she came over and just dropped us a check without asking if we needed anything. I had ordered a cosmo and it was undrinkable so I asked to have it removed. She asked me why I didn't say anything earlier (how could I when we couldn't find her?). The manager came over and asked, "So who's the "connoiseur" of drinks over here?" To which I replied, "I am" (since seriously, I am. I've been bartending for ten years, I've been published in zagat, metromix, 944, blah blah blah...) Anyway, I told him the drink was way too strong. He said well then why did I order a martini, don't I know what a martini is, they don't short change their customers there, they give them a lot of booze, etc. I said I ordered a cosmo because I wanted something a little sweeter than just a full on shot of vodka. He said, well, I'll take it of this time, but next time I should know what I'm talking about before I order something. He basically berated me in from of all my friends, calling me an idiot because their bartender can't make a drink. Granted, it's a pub, but still, you shouldn't be behind the bar if all you know how to do is pour beer. And you NEVER fight with a customer. Just last night at my bar I had a customer drink five glasses of wine and then turn around and swear that she only drank three. Did I fight with her? No. You just don't do it. A manager especially should know better. I left immediately and will never return.

    "Awful Experience"

I just came from this disgusting restaurant and I am reporting them to the department of health. I have never had this bad an experience with any restaurant ever. I went and joined a friend after they had a farewell party for a friend from work. I arrived late and so decided to have something to eat. I had a glass of white wine , the onion soup and a King salad with chicken strips. About half way through the salad I was eating a piece of chicken and it felt like it had grit or dirt all over it. Examining it it had dirt, sand and feces all over it. I spit out everything trying not to vomit . I washed my mouth out with my wine . I called over the waitress who took it to the kitchen and she came back saying the chef said it wasn't there before but it was and my roommate can confirm that it was directly from the kitchen. I refused to pay for a thing and left. Most disgusting experience I have ever had and the first I have had with any restaurant. AVOID !

"Fish and Chips... a pint or two"

This place has some of the best fish and chips I have ever had. I have met Brits that agree this place has the best batter for fish. The down side about this place is that there is very limited seating. Only a few barstools and even less tables if your with a party of 3+. What's worse is that the only real standing room puts you in the line of fire of people playing darts. Good place for a quick pint and a good meal at good prices....just don't plan on hanging out too long.... it gets awkwardly crowded. (the restaurant side is great even for families and older patrons)
